"As long as I don't look like I'm performing in Grease," Nik said to me over the phone after I tried to explain how I wanted the shots to look.
I've always found it difficult to describe to people my ideas so that they "get it." So that they see what I see. Catch the vision. When sharing an idea, it always feels like I'm talking in a foreign language and that I would be better off if I had a piece of paper and a pencil...except I can't find one fast enough. But, I have been very fortunate to photograph individuals that are willing to trust me with those ideas and then, if they haven't caught the vision during the shoot, "get it" once they've seen the final product. And that's a great feeling.
